Oakland City Council Committee Schedule

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the City of Oakland is conducting a series of critical committee meetings to address fiscal policy, infrastructure improvements, and community welfare. All meetings are scheduled to take place in the City Council Chamber on the 3rd floor of 1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza.

  • Finance and Management Committee (9:30 AM): The committee will review an informational report regarding the Budget Advisory Commission’s recommendations for a proposed $40 million parcel tax measure for June 2026. Additional items include the second-quarter cash management report for the 2025-2026 fiscal year and resolutions for citywide cooperative agreements.
  • Public Works and Transportation Committee (11:30 AM): Key agenda items include the Adeline Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project and the Oakland Alameda Access Project. The committee will also consider the issuance of a certificate of completion for public improvements on Howe Street and property rights acquisitions for the 42nd Avenue and High Street access projects.
  • Community and Economic Development Committee (1:30 PM): Discussions will focus on amendments to the Planning Code Chapter 17.96 regarding S-14 Housing Sites Combining Zone regulations and the implementation of Senate Bill 79.
  • Life Enrichment Committee (4:00 PM): This session will cover an update from the Department of Race and Equity, the Black New Deal report, and resolutions concerning HHAP-6 and winter relief funding for homelessness services.

Public Service Announcements

The City of Oakland has officially unveiled its new Five-Year Economic Development Action Plan. This strategic framework is designed to prioritize inclusive growth across all neighborhoods, focusing on business retention and the expansion of local employment opportunities. Residents and business owners are encouraged to review the plan's milestones on the city’s economic development portal.

Additionally, the Department of Transportation has announced an extension of the grace period for Sunday parking meter enforcement. While Sunday enforcement was initially slated to begin earlier this year, the first day of active enforcement has been rescheduled for April 12, 2026. Motorists are advised to observe all other existing parking regulations and signage during this extension.

Public Works and Contracting Notices

The City of Oakland is currently soliciting bids for the Martin Luther King Jr. Way Streetscape Improvements Project. This project includes clearing, demolition, electrical upgrades, and landscaping. The revised bid submission deadline is Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Interested contractors must comply with the 16% Local and Small Local Business Enterprise (L/SLBE) participation goal.

In planning news, the City has recently updated the Planning Code to expand the list of projects exempt from standard Design Review.
