Upcoming City Council Committee Meetings (February 24)

The Oakland City Council has released agendas for several committee meetings scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Public Works: Adeline Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit

The Public Works and Transportation Committee is set to review the construction phase of the Adeline Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project during its 11:30 AM session. This initiative aims to enhance the bridge's resilience to seismic activity, ensuring a safe connection for freight and passenger traffic between West Oakland and the Port of Oakland. Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2026, supported by federal grant funding and local Measure KK funds. Other items include access improvements for 42nd Avenue and High Street.

Parking Enforcement Update: Sunday Meter Grace Period

The City of Oakland has officially extended the grace period for Sunday parking meter enforcement. While the transition to Sunday enforcement was previously scheduled to begin earlier this year, the first day of active enforcement will now be Sunday, April 12, 2026. This extension is intended to allow residents and visitors additional time to adjust to the new parking regulations in commercial districts. Drivers are reminded to observe all other posted parking signs and time limits.

Following recent cold weather advisories in the SF Bay Area, residents are urged to take precautions as overnight temperatures remain low. Warming resources and shelter information are available through local service providers for vulnerable populations. Additionally, the City continues to offer free tax preparation services through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Eligible low-income residents can receive help filing their taxes and applying for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) at various community sites through April.
