City Council Committee Meeting Schedule

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Oakland City Council will conduct several committee sessions at the City Council Chamber on the 3rd Floor of City Hall. These meetings provide a forum for legislative review and public comment on upcoming municipal policies and expenditures.

  • Finance and Management Committee (9:30 AM): The agenda includes an informational report on Measure Q and a detailed review of Oakland Police Department (OPD) overtime expenditures.
  • Public Works and Transportation Committee (11:30 AM): Members will discuss the Oakland Alameda Access Project (OAAP) delegated maintenance agreement amendment. Additionally, the committee will receive reports on the current fiscal outlook for BART and the proposed reorganization of the city's Parking Division.
  • Life Enrichment Committee (4:00 PM): A primary focus of this session is the presentation of the City of Oakland 2026 Homelessness Strategic Action Plan, which aims to reduce unsheltered homelessness by 50% over the next five years. The committee will also consider contract renewals for the storage of select African American Museum and Library materials and the Oakland Public Library's integrated library system.
  • Public Safety Committee (6:00 PM): This evening session will address outstanding committee items and recommendations regarding community safety initiatives.

Public Works and Traffic Advisories

Construction activities for the Oakland Alameda Access Project (OAAP) are currently underway as of early March 2026. This long-term infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity between I-880, I-980, and the Posey and Webster Tubes. Residents and commuters should anticipate intermittent lane closures and overnight maintenance work. At this time, city officials remind motorists that while maintenance is frequent, both the Posey and Webster Tubes will not be closed simultaneously to ensure continued cross-estuary access.

Public Health Advisories

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued a statewide health alert following a confirmed measles outbreak in the Sacramento and Placer County regions. While no cases have been reported within Oakland city limits this week, local healthcare providers are urged to maintain a high index of suspicion for patients presenting with fever and rash. Furthermore, a regional advisory has been issued following reported cases of mumps at Berkeley High School. Residents are encouraged to verify that they are up to date on their MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccinations.

Administrative Notices

The City of Oakland has officially extended the grace period for Sunday parking meter enforcement. While initially slated for earlier this year, the first day of active Sunday enforcement is now scheduled for April 12, 2026. This extension is intended to allow residents and visitors more time to adjust to the new weekend parking regulations.
