BART Single-Tracking and Station Alerts

Commuters utilizing BART today, Sunday, February 1, 2026, should prepare for significant scheduling shifts on the Yellow Line. BART has announced a single-tracking alert between the Rockridge and Orinda stations to accommodate essential vegetation management. This work is expected to cause delays of 15 to 20 minutes for trains traveling through the corridor toward both Antioch and San Francisco. Riders are advised to check the official BART trip planner for adjusted departure times throughout the day.

In addition to rail delays, station maintenance continues in Downtown Oakland. The street-level escalator at the 12th St. Oakland City Center station (located at 13th Street and Broadway) remains out of service for modernization. Currently, officials estimate this unit will return to service by February 6, 2026. Passengers requiring elevator or escalator access should use alternative entrances at 11th Street.

Major AC Transit Service Changes Effective Today

Today marks the implementation of major service adjustments for the AC Transit "Realign" network. These updates are specifically designed to improve reliability and address weekend overcrowding. Notable changes include:

  • Line 60: Introduction of additional trips between CSU East Bay and Hayward BART to reduce wait times.
  • Line 31: Addition of new hourly service reaching Skyline High School.
  • Lines 73, F, O, and P: These lines will see increased trip frequency to manage high Sunday ridership volumes.
  • Line 19 and 54 Transition: Service between Fruitvale BART and Seminary Avenue at San Leandro Street has been discontinued on Line 19; this segment is now served by Line 54.

Riders should note that a previously planned stop change for Line 18 at Shattuck Avenue and Ashby Avenue has been delayed due to construction and will not go into effect today. Passengers should continue to use the existing stop until further notice.

Roadwork and Bay Bridge Updates

On the highways, Caltrans reports that early morning travelers on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (I-80) may encounter residual congestion following overnight maintenance. Lane and ramp closures on eastbound lanes 1, 2, and 3, as well as westbound lanes 1 and 2, were scheduled through the early hours of Sunday and are expected to be fully cleared by 8:00 AM.

In the Jack London District and Chinatown, residents will begin to see early staging for the Oakland Alameda Access Project. While major excavation for the I-880 and Posey/Webster Tube improvements is not slated for full commencement until next month, minor shoulder closures and increased utility activity may be visible. Motorists are encouraged to maintain caution near the I-980 interchange as crews prepare the site for long-term infrastructure upgrades.
